Doctor Who - K-9 Beanie - Knitting Pattern

A while ago someone asked me for a K9 Beanie.... And it's fair to say that I had no clue how to do this. But, I've given it a shot. It has turned out pretty well in the end.

The size is for a teen.



You will need:
4mm needles
5mm needles
Grey and red dk yarn

K9 Beanie

Cast on 88 on 4mm in grey
K2, p2 rib over the next 12 rows.

Change to 5mm needles
Stst 6 rows
Knit 30 grey, knit 28 red, knit 30 grey
Purl 30 grey, knit 28 red, purl 30 grey
Knit 30 grey, purl 28 red, knit 30 grey
Purl 30 grey, purl 28 red, purl 30 grey
Knit 30 grey, knit 28 red, knit 30 grey
Purl 30 grey, purl 28 red, purl 30 grey
Knit 30 grey, knit 28 red, knit 30 grey
Purl 30 grey, knit 28 red, purl 30 grey

Cut yarn, leaving 30cm, thread all stitches onto the yarn, pull to tighten


Ears x 2
Cast on 7 on 4mm needles
Stst 6 rows
K1 front and back, K1 front and back, K1 front and back, k1, K1 front and back, K1 front and back, K1 front and back
Stst 6 rows
K2 tog, k2 tog, k to the last 4 stitches, k2 tog, k2 tog

Stitch up the back of the hat.
Attach ears to the top of the hat, rolling the ear stem bit into a tube before attaching.

Stitch on a red circle on top of the red striped area.

10 Crafts in 10 Days - Tardis Sneakers

Well, with the chaos of Friday, I never had a chance to post, and today has also been a little nuts. We build a pathway! Okay, not that exciting.

Here we have the product of like 4 days crafting on and off... Tardis Sneakers.



I bought the sneakers for like $5 ages ago. I actually bought 4 pairs, 2 in black and 2 in white... Gave a pair of black ones away, and wore out a black and white pair by wearing them to work. They are super comfy.

So these were blocked out first, then painted with fabric paint. I used fabric markers around the words, and the windows, then painted in the rest. When they dried, I sprayed them with water proofing spray.

10 Crafts in 10 Days: Fezzes and Bow Ties are Cool

I am a little Doctor Who obsessed at the moment... And this edition of 10 crafts in 10 days is really 3 crafts....



Here we have a wee fez hat... Jointly shared by me and the dog.... And teddy.









And a brooch and a clip bow tie.



All made from felt and stitched together by hand.

10 Crafts in 10 Days: Tardis Brooch Pin

For some reason I've decided to complete 10 crafts in 10 days... Alright, mainly as I have a stockpile of things I have wanted to do, and I should get stuck in before heading to China in November. (Yes, China!)

The first one is this Tardis Pin made from felt.




You will need:
Blue felt scraps
Black felt scrap
White felt (or I used ribbon)
Scissors
Fabric glue
Cotton - in blue, white and black
Pin back or safety pin

Cut 2 rectangles to the size you want. Mine were 3cm by 5cm.

Carefully cut out 8 'windows'.


Glue a square of white felt or ribbon behind the top 2, and the first one on the second row.



Glue onto plain blue square. Use one of the cut out windows to make the light on the top.

Cut a strip of black and glue to the top of the box.

Stitch around the outsides. I used a blanket stitch in matching shades around the outsides and insides of the windows.



Stitch on the "Police Box" sign and the pin back.

Doctor Who Tardis iPad Cozy - Knitting Pattern

On Friday I impulse-bought Tardis yarn from a sale bin. Yesterday this was made. This cozy will fit over an iPad with a hard shell back or fitted case already.





It's not too Tardisy- yet has enough to be recognised. It also is reminiscent of River Songs diary, so it has that going for it too.

You will need:
2 balls of Tardis blue yarn (dk) - or one big ball... The balls I had were approx 75m long
Black yarn
3 buttons (I used blue stars for travelling through space and time.).
4.5mm needles

Cast on 40 on 4.5mm in blue yarn.
Rib 6 rows

Stst 4 rows
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5

Repeat the last block of the pattern 3 more times. (This creates the 2x4 block of squares)

Stst 6 rows. (The bottom of the cozy is when this section gets folded in half)

The needle in the above picture indicates the fold line.

Change to black yarn.
Knit 10 rows.
K10, yarn round needle, k2 tog, K8, yarn round needle, k2 tog, K8, yarn round needle, k2 tog, k to end
K2 rows
Cast off



Fold over in the section with 6 rows (slightly less than half way.
Stitch up the sides.

Line the button hole section over the blue rib section and add buttons to close.



To make this as River Songs Diary:
Do not change to black: remain using blue
Instead of buttons, stitch on a red ribbon to tie through the button holes.

"Doctor Who" Scarf Hat Knitting Pattern

Recently I finished knitting my Doctor Who scarf... Talk about a mission! I ended up with RSI from the weight of the knitting, and it has significantly slowed my design progress. And then there were the scraps of yarn....



The Doctor Who Scarf Hat was born!

Super easy to knit, and made from the scraps of the scarf yarn. Ideal for a beginner... Or for the Whovian in your family. 😜 The whole hat is made in garter stitch (knitting each row).

The bottom creates a rolled band, so the "wrong side" of the knitting changes during the 3rd colour change. You will see what I mean later if you don't get it now....

You will need:
Size 4.5mm needles
Yarn scraps in dk:
- tan
- deep purple (think eggplant)
- charcoal
- red
- olive green
- copper
- yellow/gold
(See the doctor who scarf web page for details)

Cast on 90 stitches in tan. This can be adjusted to fit any head though.
Knit 5 rows.

Change to purple. Knit 12 rows.

Change to charcoal. Knit 21 rows.

Change to red. Knit 8 rows.

Change to olive green. Knit 12 rows.

Change to copper. Knit 6 rows.

Change to yellow/gold. Knit 14 rows.

Change to purple. Knit 4 rows.

Change to tan.
K3, k2 together over the whole row
Knit
K2, k2 together over the whole row

K1, k2 together over the whole row
Knit

Cut yarn, leaving 30cm, thread all stitches onto the yarn, pull to tighten

Stitch up the back of the hat from the top, and attach plaited/braided tassels or a pom-pom. I made tassels.

Fold up the band of the hat into half way through the charcoal section. Stitch this fold up to the seam at the back.

Below you will see the "right side" of the hat, and the messy changing colour bits that show on the "right side" end up inside the band.

The Hat had it coming... Sherlock Inspired Beanie

Finding the awesome "The Wallpaper had it coming" chart on Ravelry inspired this had for a major Sherlock fan.



You will need
4mm needles
5mm needles
Cream and black dk yarn
Chart
Accent colour yarn (I used blue)

Cast on 84 on 4mm in cream
Rib (k2, p2 repeat) over 10 rows

Change to black and 5mm needles
Knit 2 rows

Copying the chart from ravelry, complete one repeat of the pattern.






Change to black yarn.
Knit 2 rows

Change to cream yarn
K3, k2 together over the whole row
Purl
K2, k2 together over the whole row
Purl
K1, k2 together over the whole row
Purl
K2 together over the whole row
Purl
K2 together over the whole row
Cut yarn, leaving 30cm, thread all stitches onto the yarn, pull to tighten

Darn in all the ends

Embellish with a smiley face. I did this in blue on the top section, but you could use a more traditional gold over the pattern itself.



Tie a tassel or pom pom on the top.
