"Despicable Me" Minion Slippers - Knitting Pattern

It's been a while since my last minion pattern, as other requests have taken prominence. But here are minion slippers!



This pattern will make a child's size 6-7. To adjust the size larger... Add on more stitches in the beginning, which will increase the overall width. And add more blue rows to make them longer. Approximately 4 additional rows will increase the shoe size by one size.

Clearly, you will need to make 2 of everything here....

You will need:
Dk yellow, blue, white, grey and black yarn.
Size 4mm needles
Crochet hook

Minion slippers

Cast on 30 in blu on 4mm needles
Knit 30 rows, slipping the last stitch on every row.

Cast off 6 stitches at the start of the row. Knit to end.
Cast off 6 stitches at the start of the row. Knit to end.

Change to yellow yarn.

Stst 14 rows in yellow
K1, k2 tog over whole row.
Purl
K2 tog over whole row.
Cut yarn, thread through remaking stitches and pull tight.

Crochet a circle in white with a one round of grey border. Alternatively use a goggle eye or white felt.



Stitch up the cast-on row by folding the knitting in half. This creates the back heel height.

Fold the side flaps over.

Pull the yellow tail tight, and stitch up the top of the slipper towards the blue section.

Attach the eye on top of the slipper and stitch on a smile.

Free "Despicable Me" Minion Knitting Patterns

By now my regular readers are well aware of the "Despicable Me" patterns I have designed, and Ravelry users will recognise them too. But I also know that it's kinda difficult to find the one you want, so I'm going to link all the current (and future) patterns on this post. Each hat or toy uses slightly different techniques. By checking each pattern first, you can mix and match elements to create your own unique knitted hat or toy.

These are simple knits, with only a few challenges in the making. They are all knitted flat, but people have very successfully converted these for knitting in the round.

These are all really easy to knit. Some Ravelry users have made this as beginners. Because of the travelling yarn or intarsia in the tops, the inside tidiness isn't so important, so they are a pretty neat way of practising new techniques with limited risk.

"Despicable Me" Edith Beanie - Knitting Pattern

There seems to be no end to the popularity of the "Despicable Me" knitting patterns, and I admit, they are cute. This one is the Edith beanie as she wears in the film, oversized and with ear flaps.

This hat is adult-teen sized, knitted in the round and oversized as Edith wears it.

You will need:
Size 4mm needles - dp and circular
Dark and pale pink dk yarn
Stitch marker





Cast on 5 in pale on 4mm

5 K1 front and back, k2, k1 front and back, k1
6 knit 2, purl to last 2, knit 2
7 K1 front and back, k4, k1 front and back, k1

Leave on needle, and make another.

Slide the first flap onto a circular needle. Cast on 30 stitches. Slide on other flap. Cast on 30 stitches.

Change to dark pink.

Change to dark pink.

Cut 3 sets of 6 lengths of yarn. Fold the first set in half, stitch to the top of the hat, braid the tassels and tie a knot at the end. The other 2 sets should be folded in half and threaded through the holes in the ear flaps, braided and tied.

"Despicable Me" Minion Ear Flap Hat - Knitting Pattern

So many minion designs, so little time. I've never made a pattern for an ear flap hat before, and this was a popular request. So here we have it, a minion ear flap hat, knitted in the round.

I think it is a little trickier than the other minion hats I have listed. I also crocheted the eyes, but these could be made out of white felt.

This pattern is a teen-adult size. For other sizes, adjust the number of stitches casted on.






You will need:
Yellow and blue dk yarn
Scraps of white, grey and black dk yarn
3.75mm circular needle, and also short dp needles for when the hat reaches the apex
Crochet hook
2 black buttons

Minion ear flap hat


The ear flap bits - make 2 on dp needles






Cast on 5 in blue on 3.75mm
1 knit
2 Knit
3 K2, yrn, k2 tog, k1
4 Knit row
5 K1 front and back, k2, k1 front and back, k1
6 knit
7 K1 front and back, k4, k1 front and back, k1
8 knit
9 K1 front and back, k6, k1 front and back, k1
10 knit
11 K1 front and back, k8, k1 front and back, k1
12 knit

Leave on needle, and make another.

Slide the first flap onto a circular needle. Cast on 40 stitches (this is the front). Slide on other flap. Cast on 35 stitches (this is the back) you should now have 105 stitches.

Crochet 2 white circles, or cutout of felt. I am new to crochet, so the following instructions may or may not be useful.
Chain 4, and make into a loop.
Double crochet 8 times around the inter circle.
Double crochet 16 times around the middle circle.
Double crochet 32 times around the outer white circle.
Complete a rotation of double crochet in grey around the outside.




Crochet or blanket stitch in grey around the white circles.
Sew onto the front of the hat, on the black band.






Sew on 2 buttons for eye-pupils






Cut lengths of yarn for the tassels.
Thread and loop through the holes made in the ear flaps.












Braid and tie the ends.

"Despicable Me" Minion - iPad Cozy - Knitting Pattern

As the other Minion themed knitting patterns have been going gang-busters, it was time to finish this iPad cozy. I admit it's been on the needles for like a month! It's been a crazy month, and my wrists were still recovering from RSI from knitting the Doctor Who Scarf.



But I am pleased with this endevour no end.

You will need:
4.5mm needles
Yellow and blue dk wool
Scraps of black, white and grey wool
1 large black button
Crochet hook
Bodkin needle
Scraps of stuffing

Minion iPad cover

Cast on 70 in blue on 4.5mm needles
Stst 20 rows
Change to yellow
Stst 40 rows
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Cast off 35, purl 35
Stst 5 rows
S1, k1, psso, knit to last 2 stitches, k2 tog
S1, p1, psso, purl to last 2 stitches, p2 tog
Repeat last 2 rows until 3 stitches remain
S1, k2 tog, psso
Cut yarn, thread through remaining stitch. Crochet a chain approx 5 cm long, attach as a loop to the top of the point.







On the short side of the cover, pick up 15 stitches in blue for the front of the overalls. These should start 10 stitches in from the edge.
Stst 10 rows in blue.
Cast off

Stitch up the side and bottom of the cover. Insert iPad or cardboard the right size into the cover. Embroider overall straps and eye-goggle band on. This helps to keep the right shape for the cover.

Crochet a white circle, approx 8cm in diameter. Crochet one row of grey around the white centre and stitch onto the cover. Stitch a large black button onto the centre of the eye. You could use felt rather than crochet the eye piece.


Arms - optional - make 2

Cast on 16 stitches
Stst 12 rows
K2 tog over whole row
Cut yarn, slip all remaining stitches onto yarn, pull to tighten. Stitch up the side, stuff and attach to the cozy.

"Despicable Me" Minion Fingerless Gloves - Knitting Pattern

Recently I was asked for a minion glove pattern. This is a quick knit that can be adapted to your own unique style.



You will need
- 4mm needles
- crochet hook
- blue and yellow dk yarn
- goggle eye (or 2)

Minion gloves

Cast on 36 in blue on 4mm
Rib (k1,p1) 12 rows

Change to yellow
Stst 30 rows

Rib 6 rows
Cast off.

Pick up 8 stitches from the blue section with a crochet hook.
You will need to do this on the left and right sides, one on each glove.
The 8 stitches should start approx 5 stitches from the edge.

Stst 8 rows
Cast off



Sew up the blue ribbed section into a cuff.
Sew up 1cm of the yellow section by the blue ribbing.



Pick up 26 stitches from along this seam.
Rib 4 rows.
Cast off.






Sew up from the ribbing to the top band.

Using icord, braiding or crochet chains, create overall straps for the minion. Cross them over at the back of the glove.



Stitch on a smile and either one or 2 eyes.

"Despicable Me" iPhone Cozy - Knitting Pattern

I admit, this is a little nuts. But, it got my mind working, and is a great size for getting over the RSI from the Doctor Who Scarf.... Here it is... A minion iPhone cozy. It will fit similar sized phones, or the itouch. For the iPhone 5 you will need to knit the yellow section longer though.



You will need:
- size 4mm needles
- yellow and blue dk wool
- goggle eye
- crotchet hook for the chains

Cast on 26 in blue on 4mm needles
Stst 10 rows

Change to yellow
Stst 24 rows
Knit whole row
Knit 13, purl 13
Knit whole row
Knit 13, purl 13
Knit whole row
Knit 13, purl 13
Knit whole row
Cast off 13, purl to end
Stst 8 rows
K2tog, knit to last 2, k2 tog
P2tog, purl to last 2, p2 tog
Repeat previous 2 rows until 3 stitches remain
S1, k2tog, psso



Pick up 6 blue on the short side of the blue section.



Stst 6 rows
Cast off.



Chain a length of crochet from the top point of the yellow, and the 2 corner points of the overall fronts.



Stitch up side of the cozy.
Stitch a single eye on the front, and a smile.
Stitch the overall straps in place.
Link the yellow chain around the eye as a closure.

"Despicable Me" Evil Minion Hat - Knitting Pattern

After creating the One Eyed Minion Hat and the One Eyed Minion Toy, and both being quite popular, I turned my head to the 2 Eyed Minions, in both toy and hat forms. Check out both patterns. I've made the different so that you can chop and chose various elements for your own unique hat.

This one is for a 2 eyed Evil Purple Minion!



You will need
4mm needles
5mm needles
Purple, white, black and grey dk yarn

Cast on 80 in purple.
Rib (k1, p1) 10 rows.

Change to the 5mm needles.
Stst 10 rows.

Knit as per the chart. The four rows with black should be all black.
Knit 30, complete chart section, knit 30
Purl 30, complete chart section, purl 30 (repeat until chart completed)



At the end of the chart, stst 10 rows.



K3, k2 together over the whole row
Purl
K2, k2 together over the whole row
Purl
K1, k2 together over the whole row
Purl
K2 together over the whole row
Purl

Cut yarn, thread remaining stitches onto the yarn, pull to tighten.

Glasses surround
Cast on 3 in grey
Stst 80 rows
Cast off.
Stitch around the white eye sections, and some of the purple to create an eyelid as shown in the image.


Teeth

Pick up 14 from the first row after the ribbed band.



Knit whole row
Knit 4 stitches as 4 short rows- cast off these 4.
Purl next 4, turn, k2 tog twice, turn, p2 tog, cut yarn, thread through remaining stitch.
Knit 2 stitches as 6 short rows, k2 tog, cut yarn, thread through remaining stitch.
Stst 5 rows. Cast off.



Darn in the tails. Attach the top of the teeth to the hat itself.



Stitch up the back, and darn in the tails.

I gave this hat tassels. You could make a pom-pom or the minion hair as shown in the One Eyed Minion Hat

"Despicable Me" Minion Toy (2eyed) Knitting Patten

So, I designed the One Eyed Minion Toy, and as he was becoming so darn popular, here is his buddy, the Two Eyed Minion! And yes... My mind is also thinking about the evil minions.....



He is a little shorter and fatter than his buddy, and uses medium eyes rather than a large one.




You will need:
Size 4mm needles
Dk wool in blue, black, yellow, grey
Stuffing
2 medium goggle eyes

Legs

Cast on 12
Stst 4 rows in black
Stst 6 rows in blue

Slide 2 legs together
K1, k1 front and back, repeat over whole row
Stst 9 rows blue
Stst 20 rows yellow
Stst 3 rows black
Stst 9 rows yellow
K2 tog over whole row
Purl whole row
K2 tog over row. Cut yarn, thread stitches onto yarn.

Overall front
Using a crochet hook, pick up 11 stitches on the front of the minion, in the last row of blue.
Stst 9 rows
Cast off.

Eye surround - make 2
Cast on 3 stitches in grey.
Stst 20 rows
Cast off

Arms
Cast on 12 in yellow
Stst 10 rows yellow
Stst 4 black
K2 tog over row, cut yarn, thread stitches onto yarn, pull to tighten.

Straps - make 2 (or you can braid 3 strands of wool long enough)
Cast on 3 in blue
Stst 34 rows
Cast off.

Attach twisted yarn hairs to the top of the head. Keep these in neat lines rather than all over like the one eyed minion has.
Stitch up legs and overall bottoms (blue knitting)
Stitch up head and black strap.
Stuff and sew up the back.
Sew up arms and attach to body.
Attach eyes to the front of the black stripe. These should just be touching without the surrounds on.



Sew grey eye surrounds into a circle, stitch around the eye. Run yarn around the side, and pull to tighten around the goggle eye.



When both surrounds are attached, stitch them together in the middle.
Attach straps to the back of the minion, crossing over his back.
Attach to top of overalls with black thread.
Stitch on a smile.
