Muffin Tin Monday- Rawr Dinosaurs!

Muffin tin Monday is one of those online events that I love participating in when food is low on my list of priorities, or when the kiddos come for tea.

This week was Dinosaurs!

So I have brontosaurus sandwiches, a dinosaur foot print dip for crackers and carrot sticks, and a muffin with dinosaur sprinkles.

Seriously, that was the best job icing I have ever done!

Deconstructed Breakfast - Muffin Tin

This weeks muffin tin was my take on cereal....... just because breakfast is my favourite meal of the day.  Imagine this with a glass of milk.

Diced peaches in juice, strawberries, mixed nuts with cranberries and baby-mellows.  And a couple of random koalas for good measure.

Muffin Tin Monday: Breakfast Burritos

Breakfast burrito muffin tin with burritos, grated cheese and sour cream
I love breakfast burritos but I usually leave them to eating at fairs in the morning... letting someone else do all the hard work.  Today I made my own.  Yummo!

I'll link to the recipe on here.

Here we have a pair of breakfast burritos with grated cheese and sour cream.  It was a tasty, glorious mess in the end, but nothing was left behind.

All the Noms....

Tonight was a rush.... with costumes to sew for tomorrow, and basically not very interested in eating, this was all about rushing, and eating what was available.

Here we have some home grown lettuce with homemade yogurt, and home grown blackberries, a birds nest of spaghetti with sauce in the birdy, carrots, felafel patties and some kiwifruit flowers left over from lunch.

Not particularly interesting, but lots of noms, and it all went down well.

Muffin-tin Iskender

After a lot of talking about Art today and how it really is breaking down things into smaller parts, this happened for dinner.... a deconstructed Iskender.  Which is nice.... as the foods don't touch!  Lol.

Here we have:
- Felafel patties
- Cucumber cubes
- Grated Carrot
- Cubed beetroot
- Lettuce slices
- Hummus
- Yogurt dressing

And it was all served with a side of rice.

For Iskender lovers, tomorrow's lunch will involve this in some way.  I LOVE LEFTOVERS!

Muffin Tin Monday - No theme.... 'cept veges

As you all should know, this is my year of eating better.  I have been.... ummmm.... wavering a little in the heat!

And my other writing projects have taken over my computer time (sorry)... And my house is being painted (does the work EVER end?)

But, here was my muffin tin:

1.  Beetroot umbrellas
2.  Corn on the Cob (with retro corn handles)
3.  Carrot sticks
4.  Cucumber sticks
5.  Hummus dip (with sinking man.....)
6.  Mini-salad (with cherry tomato plants.....)

Muffin Tin Monday- Blue Fru Fondue

This morning is a wee fruit fondue (of sorts).

In the centre is low-fat, natural yogurt.
In the other muffin cups are diced orange, pear, watermelon and sliced kiwifruit and banana.
The blue obviously comes from the picks, plate and cups.... :D

Muffin Tin Monday ... errr.... I mean Thursday

I blame jet-lag... or New Years Idiocy.... or something.  But here is my really last minute, feeble effort for the week.

1.  Fresh peas in pods from the garden
2.  Mini crackers with swiss cheese feet
3.  Orange segments
4.  Carrot sticks
5.  Hard boiled, free range egg
6.  Cucumber, also from the garden

I call this "Stuff I had on hand" and the picks were ones I bought the other day in Auckland, so I wanted to use them.

Muffin Tin Monday - I didn't manage a theme.....

Well, I just had one of those days where I spent the whole thing chasing my tail.  I got home, and was not interested in doing MTM, then I stopped, and just did it.  And I was pleased that I did.

Here we have, with no panache or style:
1.  Green grapes
2.  Gingernuts
3.  Marshmellow ducks
4.  Berry yogurt
5.  Strawberries
6.  Caramel sandwiches.

At least the strawberries and grapes were harvest-y?

Muffin Tin Monday - Halloween

Ooooo... spooky.  Now, I have never really been a Halloween kinda gal.... so I had to google Halloween to find out more about it.  And in the end, this is what I settled on.

At the top:
1.  Caramel sauce and apple slices
2.  Dragon toenails (okay, so they were potato wedges)
3.  Toxic ooze complete with Zombie.  (Avocado dip and skeleton pick)

On the bottom:
1.  Wicked Witch Waffles with yogurt and bats (That was totally the name of the recipe... sans bats)
2.  Evil ghost eggs
3.  Giant insect lavae (grapes......)

Muffin Tin Monday - Pumpkins

Well, I have been looking forward to this all week.... thinking... planning... good times.  The best part is knowing what to have for dinner on Monday night!  Yus.

From the top:

Pumpkin and kumara hummus with carrot sticks.
Pumpkin shaped banana cake (I cut this out free-hand with my knife.... then iced etc)
Pumpkin and sweet chili soup with sour cream, cheese and parsley
Pumpkin coloured m&m's (they were the peanut ones...... so that is slightly better..... :D)
Pumpkin seed and paprika mini-bagel with tomato, lettuce and avocado (I had 2 more on the side also)
Pumpkin seeds.

And it was all nom nom nom. :D

Muffin Tin Monday- Circus!

Muffin Tin Monday at Her Cup Overfloweth

Now, when I first figured out that Muffin Tin Monday could be joined in on, I was keen.  Then I saw the topic and was totally excited!  Tomorrow my students and I are performing our Circus tricks for primary students.... and teaching them the skills as well.  :D

Here is my first ever Muffin Tin Monday:

And from the top:
Top left:  Cheese cut and coloured into big-top shapes!
Top centre:  Cranberries (red clown noses)
Top right:  Strongman weights (carrots on toothpicks) on a bed of hummus
Bottom left:  Banana cupcake topped with a lion head
Bottom centre:  3 rings of 3 rings!  (I was giggling over this one... 3 ring circus..... ha ha ha)
Bottom right:  Elephant bread.

I made little sandwiches with the elephants, egg, cucumber and cheese..... used the crackers in the dip... ate the carrots with the picks... and finished off with the cake and cranberries. :D
