As putting my themed collections together has been a good thing for the "Despicable Me" patterns, I figured it was time to collate the Doctor Who ones.... And show off that I'm going to the BBC symphonic spectacular in the new year! Mostly these are knitting patterns, but the odd craft project is also in the list.

10 Crafts in 10 Days - Tardis Sneakers

Well, with the chaos of Friday, I never had a chance to post, and today has also been a little nuts. We build a pathway! Okay, not that exciting.

Here we have the product of like 4 days crafting on and off... Tardis Sneakers.



I bought the sneakers for like $5 ages ago. I actually bought 4 pairs, 2 in black and 2 in white... Gave a pair of black ones away, and wore out a black and white pair by wearing them to work. They are super comfy.

So these were blocked out first, then painted with fabric paint. I used fabric markers around the words, and the windows, then painted in the rest. When they dried, I sprayed them with water proofing spray.

10 Crafts in 10 Days: Tardis Brooch Pin

For some reason I've decided to complete 10 crafts in 10 days... Alright, mainly as I have a stockpile of things I have wanted to do, and I should get stuck in before heading to China in November. (Yes, China!)

The first one is this Tardis Pin made from felt.




You will need:
Blue felt scraps
Black felt scrap
White felt (or I used ribbon)
Scissors
Fabric glue
Cotton - in blue, white and black
Pin back or safety pin

Cut 2 rectangles to the size you want. Mine were 3cm by 5cm.

Carefully cut out 8 'windows'.


Glue a square of white felt or ribbon behind the top 2, and the first one on the second row.



Glue onto plain blue square. Use one of the cut out windows to make the light on the top.

Cut a strip of black and glue to the top of the box.

Stitch around the outsides. I used a blanket stitch in matching shades around the outsides and insides of the windows.



Stitch on the "Police Box" sign and the pin back.

Doctor Who Tardis iPad Cozy - Knitting Pattern

On Friday I impulse-bought Tardis yarn from a sale bin. Yesterday this was made. This cozy will fit over an iPad with a hard shell back or fitted case already.





It's not too Tardisy- yet has enough to be recognised. It also is reminiscent of River Songs diary, so it has that going for it too.

You will need:
2 balls of Tardis blue yarn (dk) - or one big ball... The balls I had were approx 75m long
Black yarn
3 buttons (I used blue stars for travelling through space and time.).
4.5mm needles

Tardis iPad Cozy

Cast on 40 on 4.5mm in blue yarn.
Rib 6 rows

Stst 4 rows
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5
K5, p12, k6, p12, k5
P5, k12, p6, k12, p5

Repeat the last block of the pattern 3 more times. (This creates the 2x4 block of squares)

Stst 6 rows. (The bottom of the cozy is when this section gets folded in half)

Repeat the last block of the pattern 3 more times.



The needle in the above picture indicates the fold line.

Change to black yarn.
Knit 10 rows.
K10, yarn round needle, k2 tog, K8, yarn round needle, k2 tog, K8, yarn round needle, k2 tog, k to end
K2 rows
Cast off



Fold over in the section with 6 rows (slightly less than half way.
Stitch up the sides.

Line the button hole section over the blue rib section and add buttons to close.



To make this as River Songs Diary:
Do not change to black: remain using blue
Instead of buttons, stitch on a red ribbon to tie through the button holes.

Tardis Wheatie Bag - Sewing Project

This morning my wee beagle is sick... She has a slipped disc and a lot of pain meds. We decided it was time for a new heat pad/Wheatie bag to put on her neck and ease her suffering a little.



Ages ago I purchased this fabric from Spoonflower, and I would love to get more! The fabric quality is stunning, and I really want to find the time to design my own.

Any who, I used the Tardis Pillow fabric, which came with an additional tardis mini pillow, designed to be made into a pin cushion. Pin cushions aren't that much fun... So I made a Wheatie bag. You could use any fabric, fleece is divine, and my sister swears by using merino



Cut out 2 rectangles of fabric. If you were using something else, one really long one would be easier. Drop a little lavender oil on the fabric.



Stitch up 3 sides, reinforcing in the corners.



Sew a line down the centre. Using a rolled up sheet of paper as a funnel, pour again a handful of wheat, barley or rice onto the cavities. Sew across the pillow. I use rice for people who are allergic to wheat. Jasmine rice is brilliant.



Repeat this process until you have 6 or 8 pockets of wheat.

Zig-zag or surge the open end, then fold over to create a neat edge.



Heat in the microwave with a cup of water for a minute.

The Tardis Beanie Knitting Pattern

I made this a while ago for Thor.  It's just taken me this long to write down the pattern.  I should just learn to write it down as I go.  It's a much better solution to the problem.

Tardis Hat

Size:

Fits all

Gauge:

Rib : 4mm needles
Top : 6mm needles

Double knit wool
1 x Medium blue (tardis coloured)
1 x white
1 x black

There will be leftovers

Materials Needed:

4mm and 6mm needles
Blue, black and white wool.

Directions:

Cast on 80 sts in blue on 4mm needles
Rib 12 rows (K1, P1 to end)

Change to 6mm needles. St st 4 rows.

Time to add the Tardis windows
Add white.
Row 1: (k3 blue, k4 white, k1 blue, k4 white, k1 blue, k4 white, k3 blue) repeat ( ) to end.
Row 2: (p3 blue, p4 white, p1 blue, p4 white, p1 blue, p4 white, p3 blue) repeat ( ) to end.
Row 3: repeat Row 1.
Row 4: purl whole row in blue.
Row 5: repeat Row 1.
Row 6: repeat Row 2.
Row 7: repeat Row 1.
Row 8: purl whole row in blue.

Disconnect white yarn.

St st 4 rows in blue.

Add Police Box

Row 1: Purl side facing, purl whole row in black
Row 2: Add white. Knit 21 st in black, k1 w, k1 bl, k1 w,k2 b, k1 w, k3 b, k2 w, k4 b, k3 w, k2 b, k1 w, k2 b, k3 w, k1 b, k3 w, k2 b, k1 w, k4 b, k1 w, k21 b.

Cut yarn, leaving 30cm, thread all stitches onto the yarn, pull to tighten

Sew up the side of the hat. Darn in the tails. Sew a pom pom of tassels on the hat.
