Doctor Who - Free Knitting Patterns

As putting my themed collections together has been a good thing for the "Despicable Me" patterns, I figured it was time to collate the Doctor Who ones.... And show off that I'm going to the BBC symphonic spectacular in the new year! Mostly these are knitting patterns, but the odd craft project is also in the list.

Slouch Beanie - Knitting Pattern

This is my first knitting pattern for circular needles. It's super easy to knit, either for a beginner, or while travelling.

You will need:
3.75mm circular needle- I think mine is a 40cm size.
1 skein dk yarn - I used a beautiful merino/baby alpaca blend


Orange circular beanie

Cast on 100
Double rib 12 rows (k2, p2)



Knit 10, inc 1- repeat over whole row, resulting in 110 stitches total.
Knit 3 more rows
Knit 11, inc 1- repeat over whole row, resulting in 120 stitches total.
Knit 7 more rows
Knit 12, inc 1- repeat over whole row, resulting in 130 stitches total.
Knit 36 more rows
K1, k2 tog over whole row
K2 tog over whole row
Cut yarn, thread remaining stitches on and pull tight. Stitch on tassels.

"Despicable Me" Minion - iPad Cozy - Knitting Pattern

As the other Minion themed knitting patterns have been going gang-busters, it was time to finish this iPad cozy. I admit it's been on the needles for like a month! It's been a crazy month, and my wrists were still recovering from RSI from knitting the Doctor Who Scarf.



But I am pleased with this endevour no end.

You will need:
4.5mm needles
Yellow and blue dk wool
Scraps of black, white and grey wool
1 large black button
Crochet hook
Bodkin needle
Scraps of stuffing

Minion iPad cover

Cast on 70 in blue on 4.5mm needles
Stst 20 rows
Change to yellow
Stst 40 rows
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Knit 35, purl 35
Knit row
Cast off 35, purl 35
Stst 5 rows
S1, k1, psso, knit to last 2 stitches, k2 tog
S1, p1, psso, purl to last 2 stitches, p2 tog
Repeat last 2 rows until 3 stitches remain
S1, k2 tog, psso
Cut yarn, thread through remaining stitch. Crochet a chain approx 5 cm long, attach as a loop to the top of the point.







On the short side of the cover, pick up 15 stitches in blue for the front of the overalls. These should start 10 stitches in from the edge.
Stst 10 rows in blue.
Cast off

Stitch up the side and bottom of the cover. Insert iPad or cardboard the right size into the cover. Embroider overall straps and eye-goggle band on. This helps to keep the right shape for the cover.

Crochet a white circle, approx 8cm in diameter. Crochet one row of grey around the white centre and stitch onto the cover. Stitch a large black button onto the centre of the eye. You could use felt rather than crochet the eye piece.


Arms - optional - make 2

Cast on 16 stitches
Stst 12 rows
K2 tog over whole row
Cut yarn, slip all remaining stitches onto yarn, pull to tighten. Stitch up the side, stuff and attach to the cozy.

10 Crafts in 10 Days - Tardis Sneakers

Well, with the chaos of Friday, I never had a chance to post, and today has also been a little nuts. We build a pathway! Okay, not that exciting.

Here we have the product of like 4 days crafting on and off... Tardis Sneakers.



I bought the sneakers for like $5 ages ago. I actually bought 4 pairs, 2 in black and 2 in white... Gave a pair of black ones away, and wore out a black and white pair by wearing them to work. They are super comfy.

So these were blocked out first, then painted with fabric paint. I used fabric markers around the words, and the windows, then painted in the rest. When they dried, I sprayed them with water proofing spray.

10 Crafts in 10 Days - Improbable Whale Pins

Okay, so using felt and making brooches has become a thing... To think at the start of the week I had made very little out of felt... New obsessions form quickly in my life.

Here we have 2 failing whales from "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" ...



The first one is a button on a cloud of felt, and the second is a small stuffed whale.

10 Crafts in 10 Days: Fezzes and Bow Ties are Cool

I am a little Doctor Who obsessed at the moment... And this edition of 10 crafts in 10 days is really 3 crafts....



Here we have a wee fez hat... Jointly shared by me and the dog.... And teddy.









And a brooch and a clip bow tie.



All made from felt and stitched together by hand.

10 Crafts in 10 Days: No-sew Summer Scarf

Several years ago I fell in love with this scrap of fabric and had to have it. However, it's been too small for many things....
About 2 years ago I attempted turning this into a scarf, with amazing tassels. Nope. It didn't work. (The pictures don't clearly how it, but it's orange with pale silver stars.
Now I have done it.



Super simple. Cut to larger than size... Then evenly cut in around the edges. I went for 10cm cuts every 2cm.

Tie a knot in each tassel.

Wash on a high spin speed. This has been done once. I will probably do it again tomorrow with fabric softener and hope it frays even more.
I actually spent a lot of time today working on the craft I'll be showing tomorrow. It just isn't done quite yet. ;)
