Hot Pink Piggy Beanie with Legs! Knitting Pattern

So, here is a pig beanie.




You will need
5mm needles
7mm needles
Hot Pink 12ply chunky wool
Pale Pink 12 ply wool
Black 12 ply wool
Stuffing
2 pink buttons
2 eyes
Pipe cleaner



Main hat

On size 5mm needles, cast on 66 stitches.
Rib (knit 1, purl 1) the first 6 rows.
Change to 7mm needles
Stst 20 rows
Row 21: knit 3, knit 2 together - repeat to end
Row 22: purl
Row 23: knit 2, knit 2 together - repeat to end
Row 24: purl
Row 25: knit 1, knit 2 together - repeat to end
Row 26: purl
Row 27: knit 2 together - repeat to end
Row 28: purl
Row 29: knit 2 together - repeat to end

Cut yarn. Thread remaining stitches onto thread and pull to tighten.

Nose/snout
Using a crochet hook and hot pink wool, pick up 12 stitches from the centre front of the hat.
Work in garter stitch (knit all rows) slipping the first stitch of each row
Knit 4 rows
5 onwards: s1, k1, psso, knit to last 2, knit 2 together.
When only 2 remain, cast off.

Legs - complete 4
Using a crochet hook, pick up 6 stitches in hot pink on 5mm needles. (do check you do this evenly over the hat)
Stst 5 rows (knit then purl rows alternately)
Change to black.
Knit 5 rows.
Cast off.






Ears - make 2 in pale pink
Cast on 16 on 5mm
1: knit
2: knit
3: k2 tog, knit to end, k2tog
4: knit
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until 2 stitches remain. Knit those 2 together, cut yarn, thread through remaining stitch.

Tail
Cast on 20 stitches in hot pink on 5mm needles
Knit 5 rows
Cast off.
Insert the pipe cleaner in the back of the hat. Stitch the tail piece around the pipe cleaner. Twist into a tail







Assembling

Sew the side of the hat from top to bottom using the yarn from the casting off.

Fold flap upwards and stitch around on the hat, leaving a 2cm gap. Stuff this section, and close the gap. Using 2 buttons, sew on nostrils, pulling tight through the stuffing.

Sew on the ears on the sides. Finally attach 2 eyes to the front of the hat.
