Lattice Beret - Knitting Pattern

I designed this hat for my sister, who is much more classy than I. It is super simple to make, and a quick knitting project. I used a red chenille yarn, with a silver sparkle thread in it.

You will need
1 ball of yarn. Actually, half a ball is probably enough too.
5mm needles
7mm needles

On 5mm needles, cast on 70 stitches
Rib 6 rows.

Change to 7mm needles
Repeat the following rows over the next 12 rows.
1: (RS) knit whole row
2: (WS) k1, (yarn round needle, k2 tog) repeat bracketed bit until the last stitch, k1

13: k3, k2 tog over whole row.
14: (WS) k1, (yarn round needle, k2 tog) repeat bracketed bit until the last stitch, k1
15: k2, k2 tog over whole row.
16: (WS) k1, (yarn round needle, k2 tog) repeat bracketed bit until the last stitch, k1
17: k1, k2tog over whole row.
18: (WS) k1, (yarn round needle, k2 tog) repeat bracketed bit until the last stitch, k1
19: k2 tog over whole row.
20: (WS) k1, (yarn round needle, k2 tog) repeat bracketed bit until the last stitch, k1
21: k2 tog over whole row.

Cut yarn with 30 cm remaining for stitching up. Slip stitches onto thread, and pull to tighten. Stitch up the two sides.

Add 2 twisted yarn tassels at the top.
